Addressing a women convention in Panjim on Sunday, Parrikar said that after the cashless system is introduced in Goa, trades will be operated without cash.
“This will not only curb corruption, but also control crime at a larger scale. There will be complete control on extortion and narcotics trade which operates in cash,” Parrikar said.
He said that with Goa going cashless, thefts also would decrease as people will not prefer storing the currency in house. When all the trades will be cashless, people won’t find it difficult to adapt to the system, he said.
Parrikar said that government would be holding training programs for traders including fishermen, small time vendors to educate and make them aware of the cashless system which has already been adopted by many foreign countries.
“If Sweden, England and America can go cashless, then why can’t India go cashless? Going cash less has many benefits to the country, there won’t be possibility of counterfeit currency, which will stop terrorist activities and many other illegal trades,” Parrikar said.
He said that Goa government is able deliver the development and the various social schemes only because the people of Goa has given a clear mandate to BJP. He said that people will also give clear mandate in the upcoming assembly polls.
Parrikar said that Goa is the best place where cashless economy can be implemented effectively, “the process (of creating a cashless economy) is in full swing and action plan has been finalized and we will implement it soon.”
He said that friendly technologies will be put in use for small traders and shop owners as an alternative payment method.
