BICHOLIM: Unknown culprits decamped with gold ornaments and a two-wheeler all valued at around Rs 2.20 lakh after breaking open the front door of a house at Karapur in Bicholim, on Saturday. The burglars also broke open another house but could not find anything inside.
According to Bicholim police, house owner Sandeep Naik complained that when and his family members returned home at midnight, after a birthday party, he found that the front door latch broken. On inspecting the house, he found a cupboard opened and gold ornaments like golden chain, finger rings and other jewellery items worth around Rs 1.6 lakh missing. A motorcycle valued at Rs 60,000 parked within the compound wall was also stolen.
Later, the burglars also broke open the doors of the house belonging to Vijaykumar Pitre in the same area but, could not find anything inside.
