PANJIM: Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB) searched the locker of Sabaji Shetye’s wife in a Panjim bank and found some personal gold ornaments. Shetye, Additional Collector I, North Goa was arrested by ACB on June 6 after allegedly accepting bribe.
ACB officials said the locker which was registered in Shetye’s wife’s name was searched on Wednesday and gold ornaments worth approximately Rs 4 lakh were found. Officials said the team conducted a panchanama of the ornaments but did not seize them.
The search was to establish links of any disproportionate assets Shetye may hold. ACB had earlier searched a locker of Shetye’s in a Mapusa bank and found it empty.
“We have written to all banks to furnish details of Shetye, and also asked the sub registrar to check any properties in his name,” an officer said. Shetye has spent five days in ACB custody and was granted bail on June 13.
