VASCO: Goa Customs seized gold worth over Rs 18 lakh at the Goa International Airport on Wednesday.
On suspicion, the Customs team apprehended an international passenger arrived from Dubai; on searching the passenger he was found in possession of 590 grams of gold paste approximately valued at Rs 18 lakh.
The gold paste was concealed in the waist band of jeans pants of the passenger. The gold has been seized under the provisions of Customs Act, 1962 by the Air Customs officers of Goa headed by N G Patel and Deepak Gawai.
Since April 2018, the Air Customs of Goa has seized gold worth Rs 254.59 lakh and foreign currency equivalent to Rs 75.14 lakh at Dabolirn International Airport.
