Inspector General of Prisons, Elvis Gomes said he has not received any report from the Indian Reserve Battalion (IRB) on the seizure of mobiles and drugs from the under-trials who were shifted to Colvale jail from Sada jail.
Reacting to the Herald report that the drugs and mobiles were seized, he said, “I am not aware of any such thing since no report has come to me. Why don’t you ask the IRB personnel as to why they haven’t submitted the report as yet?”
On action against Assistant Superintendents Bhanudas Pednekar and Chandrakant Harijan, who were present during the assault, he said, “The magisterial inquiry is on and similarly the Human Rights Commission is also probing the matter so let the report come out we will take action.”
He added, “I have submitted my preliminary report to the government and have not spared anybody, be it Bhanudas or Chandrakant, whoever was responsible for the assault on that day have been named.”
