Government accused of furnishing incomplete answers

PORVORIM: The opposition legislators cornered the State government over the number of incomplete answers furnished to them with regards to the questions tabled.
Just before the Question Hour session could resume, the Congress MLA Ravi Naik, Goa Forward Party MLA Vijai Sardesai and Independent MLA Rohan Khaunte brought to the notice of the Speaker Rajesh Patnekar, about the incomplete information and omission of their questions from the list.
Naik said that the Personnel department has answered in negative with regards to the question on backlog of vacancies in various government departments since March 2017 till date.
He said that the department has replied saying that the information is not maintained by them.
“How can the Personnel department not maintain the record of backlog vacancies,” the MLA questioned.
Later, Sardesai also pointed out as to how the Education Department had furnished incomplete information on grants provided to the schools. He said that the answer submitted by the department does not mention about the maintenance grants provided to schools.
He further demanded that the Question be postponed, which was, however, not agreed upon.
Khaunte also said that the Legislative department has omitted three of his questions and clubbed it with another MLA question, without even informing him. Replying to this, the Speaker said that in future, MLAs will be taken into confidence before clubbing the questions.
