PANJIM: Amid the delay in government formation, BJP State president Sadanand Shet Tanavade met Goa Governor P S Sreedharan Pillai at the Raj Bhavan on Thursday.

Accompanied by BJP organisational secretary Satish Dhond, Tanavade maintained silence over the discussion held with the Governor. On being repeatedly questioned by waiting journalists, the State BJP president only stated that the visit was a courtesy call to the Goa Governor and that he had come to meet the Governor as he was scheduled to leave for Bangalore.

The meeting attains significance as it comes a day after Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant, Tanavade and Dhond met Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other Union Ministers in Delhi on Wednesday. Sawant is close to getting the CM’s post for a second term though an official announcement has not yet been made.

The arrival of central observers and appointment of legislature party leader has once again been deferred as the arrival of the duo from New Delhi is now slated after March 21, days after Holi.

“These 2-3 days will go in Holi. Government formation is delayed as the Center wants to form governments in all four states BJP won together,” Tanavade said. He added that the induction ceremony will be held at a grand level with national leaders in attendance.

He, however, evaded media questions on the induction of regional outfit MGP in the BJP-led government.
