MARGAO: With the aim of addressing persistent electricity supply challenges in Salcete taluka, the government laid the foundation stone for various projects on Saturday at a function held in Margao.
These works included Supply, Erection, Testing and Commissioning of Double Circuit underground cable of 33 KV, 3CX400 Sq. mm XLPE emanating from 220/33 KV Cuncolim Sub Station to 33/11 KV Fatorda Sub-Station and 33/11 KV Raia Sub Station and interlink Cable from Fatorda Sub Station to Raia Sub – Station for a total route length of 29.5 KM under Division–IV, Margao.
The estimated cost of the total projects for which the foundation stones were laid by Power Minister – Ramkrishna ‘Sudin’ Dhavalikar is Rs40,50,51,947.
“This is the commencement of the 33 KV Double Circuit underground cable project, involving supply, installation, testing, and commissioning. This cable, with a cross-sectional area of 3CX400 Sq mm XLPE, will originate from the 220/33 KV Cuncolim Sub-Station and extends to both the 33/11 KV Fatorda Sub-Station and the 33/11 KV Raia Sub-Station. Additionally, an interlink cable will connect the Fatorda Sub-Station to the Raia Sub-Station, with a combined route spanning 29.5 kilometers. This significant initiative falls under Division–IV, Margao,” Dhavailkar said.
The Minister emphasized the importance of remembering the past, while advancing into the future. He stressed the responsible completion and commissioning of projects for public use and highlighted the Electricity Department’s commitment to infrastructure projects throughout Goa, without discrimination. He also noted the impending transformation of the Power House at Margao and called for the cooperation of every citizen in all developmental endeavours, mentioning the Rs 250 crore state-of-the-art sub-station in Verna.
Fatorda MLA Vijai Sardesai expressed confidence that this project would resolve the decade-old issue of power outages. He recognized the need for a substantial vision and funding for power infrastructure improvements, emphasizing the encouragement of non-conventional energy sources. Sardesai underlined Goa’s progressive nature and the importance of providing high-quality infrastructure to all citizens.

citizens to appreciate constructive efforts.
Rajiv Samant, the Superintending Engineer, emphasized the significance of uninterrupted electric-ity supply in everyone’s life and assured the department’s commitment to achieving this goal.
