Government ‘owes Rs 12 crore’ to Drishti

Lifeguards ‘have been working all seasons’ in rescue operations

PANJIM: Drishti Lifesaving Pvt Ltd has said that delay in payments since the last eight months has put severe financial strain on the company as government is due to pay an outstanding amount of Rs 12 crore till date.
“Keeping a cutting edge lifesaving mechanism functioning well requires finances. One never knows when a severe natural calamity can strike and it’s important to keep the team motivated and ready to face the challenges. Despite the delay in payments, Drishti has continued to stand by the people of the State due to the moral obligation we have towards the residents and stakeholders in Goa,” the company said in a press statement issued on Thursday.  It stated that Drishti lifeguards have been working all monsoons with local authorities in evacuation, rescue and relief operations.
All of Drishti’s lifeguards, the release claimed, are trained and certified by the Special Rescue Training Academy an internationally accredited training agency.
