PANJIM: To strengthen the functioning of Directorate of Fire and Emergency Services, the government has announced to support the procurement of sophisticated equipment for fire fighting, life rescue in high rise buildings and for handling of major disasters.

Addressing a gathering at the 32nd Annual Inspection Parade of the Fire Force, Principal Secretary Puneet Goel said, “The government is supporting the department in procuring these equipments.”

He also hailed the Goa State Fire Force Training Center for having achieved National recognition for imparting training to government and non-government organisations and for conducting sub-officers on behalf of National Fire Service College, Ministry of Home Affairs.

The parade, held on Saturday, is an annual event to test the overall operational fitness level of the fire personnel for prompt response in the event of any emergency. Director Ashok Menon inspected the Annual Parade and the best turns out fire personnel from various ranks. Certificates and trophies awarded to the winners of the drill competition and winners of annual sports meet.

Exhibition of ladder drill event was conducted by the Fire Force Headquarters Fire Personnel crew, executed within 53 seconds.
