The State government is likely to either challenge or file a revision petition with regard to the Supreme Court’s order on the highway liquor ban, in the coming month.
“We should be ready to approach the SC in July. A comprehensive draft is being prepared, and further collation of data and incorporating legal inputs are in the process. However, whether it would be a revision petition or challenging the SC order is yet to be decided,” an Excise Officer told Herald.
In April, Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar had said that in the next three months the government would approach the SC with proper documentation, seeking a clarification on its highway liquor ban order besides urging special consideration for Goa. With the three-month deadline approaching, the government is almost set to move the apex court seeking relief for the local liquor traders.
