PANJIM: Goa government will soon initiate the process to enact a law to act tough against indiscipline on the beaches, like swimming after sunset or venturing into the sea in a drunken state.
After Drishti Lifesaving Services, that provides professional lifeguards, the Tourism Department has issued an advisory to all tourism stakeholders in the State, requesting them to caution tourists not to risk their lives in the sea after sunset or if intoxicated.
In a press statement issued on Friday, the government has taken serious cognizance of the recent drowning deaths of tourists in such situations and has appealed to stakeholders to sensitise tourists, whom they come in contact with from venturing into the sea in unsafe conditions.
The Goa government has requested all tourism stakeholders like hotels, guest houses, shack operators, taxi and tour operators, water sports operators to caution tourists on the subject and appealed to pay heed in their own interest.
