BICHOLIM: Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant on Monday informed that the government has already started working upon policy of sustainable mining which will last for next 50 years.
Chief Minister was speaking at a function after inaugurating the PWD Building, at Bicholim. PWD Minister Deepak Pauskar, Speaker Rajesh Patnekar, Bicholim Municipal Council Chairman Satish Gaonkar were among others present.
“We along with the MLAs from mining belt have already started working upon the policy of sustainable mining which should last for next 50 years,” Dr Sawant said.
“We are suffering today because of what happened from 2007 to 2012. We have got relief till May regarding the transportation,” the CM added.
He said that his government is working for the common men and not for the mine owners.
“This government is of the workers, farmers and not of the mine owners. Even though we are trying our best to restart mining the NGOs are trying to bring obstruction,” Dr Sawant mentioned.
Speaking about the development of Bicholim, the Chief Minister said that he would personally look into the matter.
“Soon a big education or tourism related project would come up in Bicholim and it would be on the government land. As of now, people have used the government land for their benefit by encroaching in it. Now, we would not allow such illegalities,” he warned.
The Chief Minister said that the project of KTC bus stand is pending in Town and Country Planning office and added that in next two years most of the projects will be completed.
“Our government is stable and we will complete our tenure. Whenever BJP’s government was there in the State there was always development.” He stated adding that they are concentrating on human development.
