PANJIM: The newly elected University College Teachers Association (UCTAG) has said that Goa Governor and Goa University Chancellor P S Sreedharan Pillai assured support to development of teachers and higher education in the State.
“We paid a courtesy visit to the Governor and briefed him about the educational scenario in the State, National Education Policy 2020, the challenges in Higher Education and their likely solutions. The Governor expressed his wholehearted support and cooperation for the development of teachers and higher education in Goa and extended his best wishes for the UCTAG and the entire teaching fraternity,” UCTAG Secretary Roy Gomes said in a press statement issued, on Saturday.
Professor (Dr) Anthony Rodrigues has been elected unopposed as the UGTAG President along with his panel – Vice President Dr Padmaja Kamat, Secretary Roy Gomes, Treasurer Dr Anthony D’Souza and Joint Secretary Kunal Borkar.
“Teachers are the source of inspiration and motivation for the students. A satisfied teacher is always strength of any institution. This executive body is committed to build unity among members and local units, upholding the dignity, honour and self-respect of teachers, introduce life membership and improve its membership, organise regular academic conferences, seminars, workshops on API, duties and responsibility, effective teaching, career advancement scheme, foreign collaborations, to improve the bonding between the teacher and the taught and with all India federation of University and college teacher’ organization (AIFUCTO),” Gomes said.
