Governor calls for adopting Gandhian principles

PANJIM: Mahatma Gandhi propagated the principles of truth and humanity, which showed the people way towards blissful living. He was the man who inspired womenfolk from the rural India to actively participate in freedom struggle of the Nation, opined Governor Mridula Sinha. 
She was speaking at a function held to celebrate 150th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi at Raj Bhavan, Dona Paula, on Wednesday.
On the occasion, Governor unveiled the bust of Mahatma Gandhi installed at site of New Durbar Hall in the premise of Raj Bhavan.
Sinha mentioned that Gandhi while leading the freedom struggle, always looked forward to build the nation after its independence and appealed the masses to adopt the Gandhian principles in order to become better citizens for better tomorrow.
Governor also launched manuals on “Jal Shakti Campus”, “Jal Shakti Gram” and “Swachh Campus” published by Mahatma Gandhi National Council of Rural Education. 
Dr Sita Nayak, who is scholar of Gandhian principles, stated that Gandhian philosophy has very much relevance to present world. “We have Mahatma Gandhi in our text books but it is very much important to live Gandhi’s principles in its true sense,” she added.
Vice Chancellor Goa University Dr Varun Sahni said, “Gandhian way of living has lighter impact on the natural resources thus attributing towards protection of environment.”
