PANJIM: Governor P S Sreedharan Pillai, Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant and Archbishop of Goa and Daman Rev Filipe Neri Ferrão have extended their warm wishes to the people on the occasion of Diwali.
The Governor said, “Diwali, the spectacle of lights, is celebrated throughout the length and breadth of the country with great gaiety and enthusiasm irrespective of caste, creed or religion. The festival signifies the removal of the forces of darkness by light of goodness. This light endears us to good deeds and brings us closer to divinity. At the same time this divine festival reinforces the spirit of unity and solidarity of our diverse country.”
The Chief Minister said, “Diwali festival signifies universal compassion, inner joy of peace, love and the awareness of unity to all.
The Archbishop’s said, “On the occasion of the Festival of Lights – Diwali – I gladly send to our Hindu brethren warm greetings and wishes for a truly joyful Festival, in my name and on behalf of the Catholic community of Goa.”
