The Goa Governor P.S. Sreedharan Pillai along with the Chief Minister of Goa Pramod Sawant, Speaker Ramesh Tawadkar, freedom fighters & other dignitaries paid homage to the Martyrs at the Martyrs Memorial to commemorate Goa Revolution Day at Azad Maidan in Panjim.
Quoting Ram Manohar Lohia, the Goa Governor said the 1946 revolution was to fight for the right to assemble, organise and publish. He added that negativism is not good for democracy but all have the right to fight against injustice.
CM Pramod Sawant said there are some Goan freedom fighters who have still not been recognised or registered. The home department will ensure their names are recognized and notified and communication will be made with the Union Home department to do the same.
