PANJIM: Goa Governor Mridula Sinha has given her assent to the formation of the Mopa Airport Development Authority. The Mopa Airport Development Authority Bill was recently passed by the Goa Legislative Assembly.
As per a concession agreement signed by the State government with GMR Goa International Airport, GMR was required to implement the airport project in a phased manner, with the first phase scheduled to be completed within three years.
An authority as a single-window mechanism was considered necessary for development of the project. The State cabinet had given its nod to the formation of the Mopa Airport Development Authority in July this year.
As per a notification issued in February by TCP Department, the authority is to include the villages of Mopa, Casarvornem, Chandel, Varconda, Amberem and Uguem in the Pernem taluka.
