PANJIM: Goa Forward Party (GFP) Chief Vijai Sardesai on Thursday accused the government of “taking a supari from Adani”.
Vijai asserted that the BJP-led government is adamant on getting the double tracking project implemented by hook or crook for Adani.
He said, “All the landlords who are losing their land are Goemkars. Adani is not a Goemkar, so why Dr Pramod Sawant is giving him so much love. Is this Swayumpurna Goa or Swayumpurna Adani?
Speaking to reporters, he said, “We are gathered here as one Team Goa against this anti-Goan team BJP, united to oppose double tracking with all of Goa on our side.”
The GFP chief further questioned why the government is abusing the COVID-19 pandemic act. Sardesai claimed that the government is using the act. However, it wants and highlighted that they have not sought any form of legal advice.
Vijai asked, “What is the rush to complete the land acquisition.”
The group of Opposition MLAs together all objected to the double tracking of the railway line and expressed concern on the role and approach of the deputy collector.
Vijai claimed that “the deputy collector has been brought in to clear the way for Adani.”
Taking a jibe at the BJP, he said, “Sawant is taking inspiration from Gujarat. On Wednesday, we saw the Adani end at the Narendra Modi Stadium. The Chief Minister now wants to build the Adani end from Vasco through double tracking.”
He said, “The Railway Act is been brought into picture for land acquisition to help Adani, this is not development by consent of the people.”
The GFP Chief Vijai stated that he and the Opposition members would raise the issue of double tracking during the upcoming Assembly Session.
Vijai warned that the present government will not last beyond 2022, and all officers “doing chamchagiri” will be taken to task.
