PANJIM: Noting large scale illegalities and anomalies in the Outline Development Plans of Parra-Arpora-Nagoa, Calangute-Candolim and Vasco, the State government appointed 10-member scrutiny committee on Friday submitted their observations and recommendations on the plans, for necessary rectifications, to the Town and Country Planning (TCP) Board
The TCP Board that met on Friday, resolved to remove all the non-development zones, tenanted lands, low lying areas, whose zones have been changed in the ODPs, from the final plan, which is expected to be ready in next 10 days.
Addressing a press conference TCP minister Vishwajit Rane said, “The scrutiny committee has observed that in the ODPs of Parra-Arpora-Nagoa, Calangute-Candolim, 16.94 lakh sq mts of land is converted.
“There are instances where changes are made in the ODPs after the plans were approved by the Board and the government and is a fit case for investigation,” Rane said.
The Government had on April 22, suspended the final ODPs of Parra-Arpora-Nagoa, Calangute-Candolim and Vasco citing gross irregularities in the planning process. A 10-member committee headed by Chief Town Planner Rajesh Naik was constituted to scrutinise and review these ODPs.
Further speaking, Rane said, “Process will now be initiated to prepare fresh ODPs for Panjim, Kadamba Plateau, Mapusa, Margao and Ponda — the drafts, which were kept on hold in April for a period of 60 days.”
