PANJIM: With Co-operative banks and societies to remain shut during the extended Janta Curfew period, the government has requested pigmy collection agents, associated to the bodies, to refrain from daily collections till March 31.
Minister for Co-operation Govind Gaude said that as a precautionary measure, he has requested all the pigmy collection agents, affiliated to local cooperative bodies to refrain from daily collections till March 31.
“Directions in this regard will be issued shortly,” he said.
The Minister has asked the Chairman and Board of Societies to cooperate.
Meanwhile, Gaude, who is also the Minister for Civil Supplies, urged people not to panic as the government has adequate stock of food grains under the Public Distribution System (PDS).
He added that if there is any shortage, the concerned fair price shops will be notified and fresh lots will be disbursed accordingly.
The Minister also informed that during the curfew period, Goa Dairy will remain in operation with routine collection and delivery of milk. He added that the milk supply chain of dairy will continue to be functional.
