PANJIM: The government has initiated the process to appoint a new State Chief Information Commissioner (SCIC) and State Information Commissioner (SIC) for a period of three years.
Prashant Prabhu Tendulkar is the incumbent SCIC while State has two SIC- Pratima Vernekar and Juino D’Souza, all were inducted in January, 2016. However, this time, government has decided to appoint only one SIC.
The State Department of Information and Publicity (DIP) has invited applications to fill the posts, with last date being September 24. The remuneration for both the posts is fixed at Rs 2.25 lakh per month.
The advertisement specifies that the applicants, for both the posts, shall be persons of eminence in public life with wide knowledge and experience in the field of law, science and technology, social service, management, journalism, mass media or administration and governance.
Any person holding office of profit or elected representative like MP or MLA, should not apply for the post.
Once appointed, the SCIC or SIC should not remain connected with any political party or pursue any profession during the period of its appointment.
The eligible candidate will hold the post for three years or till he or she attains the age of 65, whichever is earlier.
