PANJIM: Emphasising on the need to preserve Goa’s land resources for future generations, INDIA Bloc’s North Goa candidate Adv Ramakant Khalap on Sunday said that the government can tie-up with private land owners to preserve land.
“Goa’s land resources are dwindling. The future generations will require land for housing. There can be a partnership between land owners and the government and a corporation can be formed. Some land can also be reserved for agriculture,” Khalap said in Mandrem during a public meeting.
Aldona MLA and coordinator for the North Goa Lok Sabha seat, Adv Carlos Alvares Ferreira said the BJP government misguides people and makes empty promises.
“The price of a gas cylinder has risen exponentially. The state government had assured three free cylinders, however, this was never implemented. The government even discontinued the subsidy on gas cylinders and when the Lok Sabha elections were approaching, they reduced the price of a cylinder by Rs 200. But as soon as the results are declared, the rates will be reverted back and even increased. Unlike the Congress, this government is not for the common people. They are only for their friends and family and make them rich,” he said.
Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) President Amit Patkar said Prime Minister Narendra Modi should give an assurance on addressing issues like rising accidents and lack of water supply.
“In 2014, you had said that you will curb inflation, unemployment, bring back black money and he had even promised to deposit Rs 15 lakhs in every account. These issues should be addressed by the prime minister,” Patkar said.
