MARGAO: Stating that externment proceedings have been initiated in some criminal cases, Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant on Thursday assured that his government is committed to put an end to hooliganism or “goodagardi”.

Speaking to media persons, he said, “We shall not tolerate any goodagardi in any part of Goa whether Mormugao, Salcete, Bardez or Tiswadi,” he said expressing confidence in the police force.

He assured that everything is planned and would be executed in a systematic manner.

Stating that police have been cracking down on crimes across the State, Sawant said, “It is not correct to state that crimes are increasing in Goa.”

“Police are doing their work and within the next six months all known anti-socials will be banned from entering their localities,” he asserted.

On Margao Urban Co-operative Bank Ltd issue, he said, “The government wants to resolve the Margao Urban Co-operative Bank Ltd issue. The government will talk to Reserve Bank of India to find a solution to the problem so that depositors and shareholders get some relief.”
