PANJIM: The State government is contemplating adopting Gujarat’s hybrid model for the effective implementation of its health insurance scheme. Under this scheme, a part of the payment will be made through insurance and the rest through trusts.
Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar on Friday conducted a review of the Deen Dayal Sawasthya Seva Yojana (DDSSY) and it has been decided to continue till August end through an existing agency TPA and the amounts will be reimbursed to the hospitals on a weekly and fortnightly basis.
The contract with the insurance company providing services under the scheme came to an end on May 31 and the government has now decided to go for fresh e-tendering. With the end of the contract, several private hospitals had begun rejecting the health cards.
Speaking to media persons, Health Minister Vishwajit Rane said that Chief Minister chaired a review meeting of the scheme. “I have discussed with the CM to send our team to Gujarat to study their model of health insurance. Currently, Gujarat has the best model adopted called the hybrid, where a part of the payment will be made through insurance and the rest through trusts.”
Rane said that during his recent participation in the national conclave of health ministers on medical insurance, he had detailed discussion with Nitinbhai Patel on the scheme. “We will send our team to Gujarat. The health Ministry there will make a presentation and we will place the same before the Chief Minister,” he said.
On the current position, he said the Chief Minister is ensuring that the scheme is functional till August without any disturbance with the existing agency TPA. “The present bidders have quoted something around Rs 8100 per card,” he said.
Health Minister has urged the empanelled hospitals to continue accepting the DDSSY cards as the scheme is very much in operation. “We will be writing to all the hospitals informing that the scheme is ongoing and to accept the cards. We will assure them that no payment will be held back,” he stated.
