PANJIM: The State government has constituted a committee to examine/ scrutinise the representations received from pre-maturely retired pensioners in view of the recent order passed by the High Court of Bombay at Goa.
Joint Secretary (Personnel) is the chairman while the concerned Head of Department or his/her nominee; Under Secretary (Finance) and Deputy Director of Accounts (Pension) are members and Under Secretary (Personnel) is the member secretary of the committee.
The terms of reference of the committee is to ascertain eligibility of the cases after verification in line with the direction given by the High Court and to submit recommendation report to the concerned HoD/Head of Office and/or Director of Accounts to sanction and authorise the revision of pension and pensionary benefits accordingly.
The High Court by a judgement dated September 5, 2022, had directed the petitioners – All Goa Government Pensioners Association, Goa Association of Prematurely Retired Government Employees, Walter Colaco of Margao and Mohan Rivankar of Bhatlem-Panjim to submit a representation accompanied by a detailed chart with names and details of allegedly premature retired government employees to the Finance Department and Accounts Department within two months from the date of the order.
