PANJIM: Association of three taxi unions from Pernem have alleged that the State government is trying to create a divide between the taxi owners from Pernem and Mopa.
They also reiterated that they will stick to their demand of opposing the app and continue batting for the counter for yellow black taxis at Mopa airport.
‘Together for Mopa Airport’ has alleged that “the government is trying to divide the taxi owners through falsehoods”. The association has confirmed that taxi owners from Mandrem are still supporting them and will be a part of the mega protest on January 2 in opposing the Goa Taxi app and their demand for ‘yellow black taxi’ counter at Mopa.
‘Together for Mopa Airport’ has convened several corner meetings across Pernem and has claimed that it commands the support of all the taxi operators in Mopa.
Suresh Parab from ‘Together for Mopa Airport’ said, “Mandrem MLA Jit Arolkar is lying about getting registrations for Goa taxi app.
We met the Mandrem Taxi Owners and they have informed us that they have not registered for the app”.
Suresh Parab explained that they will stick to their demand of opposing the app and continue batting for the counter for yellow black taxis at Mopa airport.
The Goa Tourism Development Corporation held two meetings of taxi operators, one in Pernem and another in Mandrem.
The taxi operators from Pernem boycotted the meeting claiming that the taxi app is a fraud and demanded that a yellow black taxi counter be opened at Mopa International Airport.
However, in Mandrem about 130 taxi operators attended the meeting to register under the government initiated app, giving an impression that they have joined the app.
‘Together for Mopa Airport’ has however clarified that the taxi owners have not registered for the app.
