PANJIM: Around 40,000 government employees will march to the Secretariat on December 7 demanding the implementation of the 7th Pay Commission recommendations.
The Goa Government Employees Association (GGEA) on Friday severed notices to the State government authorities informing it of the proposed peaceful march to the secretariat. “Government employees working across the State, ranging between 30,000 and 40,000, will assemble at Patto on December 7 and march to the Secretariat and will not disburse until the notification or order about implementation of 7th Pay Commission is issued and the copy is made available to us,” GGEA president John Nazareth said.
Nazareth assured that no government employee taking part in the march will indulge in any anti-social activities like stone-pelting or causing damage to any property in any way. “If authority finds any employee involved in breaking the law, necessary action may be initiated against that offender,” he said.
The association has also demanded the release of the installment of enhanced rate of dearness allowance (DA) from 125 percent to 132 percent with effect from July 1, 2016 as recommended by the central government.
Nazareth pointed out that the Union Ministry for Finance had issued a memorandum on November 9 and has enhanced the rates of DA from 125 percent to 132 percent of the basic pay plus grade pay for the government employees and employees of autonomous bodies, as per 6th central Pay Commission recommendation.
