MARGAO: The Department for NRI Affairs is working hard with the Indian Consulate General in the USA to expedite the formalities to bring home the mortal remains of John Dias, 25, from Chandor, who was shot dead in Houston.
On the other hand, upon the directions of the South Goa District Collector Office, Talathi of Village Panchayat Chandor Joslyn Pereira visited John’s house on Thursday to get the required details.
Recently, Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant had said that the State government is in touch with the US Consulate to bring to Goa the mortal remains of John. He has also tweeted that the office of Commissioner for NRI Affairs Goa is in touch with the Consulate General of India, Houston, USA for seeking their assistance for bringing the mortal remains of John to Goa.
