PANJIM: The State government has extended ban on the entry of Sri Ram Sena Chief Pramod Muthalik and his associates into the State by 60 days. The ban was last extended by two months in September.

The South Goa District Collector Ajit Roy has extended ban from November 10 following report from the Superintendent of Police (SP) South.

The Collector in its order has said that the police apprehended that Muthalik’s communal speeches will promote enmity among various religious communities and will be prejudicial to maintenance of harmony, public peace and safety.

Roy said that he is satisfied that there are sufficient grounds for proceeding under Section 144 of CrPC to prohibit members of Sri Ram Sene and its leader Muthalik from entering into jurisdiction and making aggressive statement and comments which could hurt the communal feeling of groups and lead to violence and it turn result into serious law and order problems.

Muthalik and his associates are banned from entering Goa since 2014.
