VALPOI: Sarpanchas and panchas of Sattari taluka have a reason to grieve as they have not been paid their salaries for the last one year making it even more difficult for them to celebrate Ganesh Chaturthi.
Despite the Goa government’s efforts to disburse funds for various lapsed schemes into the accounts of beneficiaries across the State, the issue of pending remuneration continues to persist. As a result, the sarpanchs and panch members of Sattari taluka found themselves celebrating Ganesh Chaturthi while grappling with financial uncertainty – an issue that has sparked frustration and anger among them.
Expectations were high that these salaries would be credited to their accounts ahead of Ganesh Chaturthi, as assured by the Chief Minister Pramod Sawant but nothing has happened till date, they said.
While addressing various beneficiaries, the CM had promised timely disbursements of remunerations before the auspicious festival. This commitment led to funds from numerous welfare schemes being successfully deposited into the accounts of beneficiaries. However, for the panchayat members of Sattari taluka, this promise remains unfulfilled.
Panch members have called upon Panchayat Minister Mavin Gudinho and CM Sawant to take immediate action in this regard and have urged for thorough investigation into the delayed salary payments and are demanding swift rectification of this issue.
