PANJIM: The Nationalist Congress Party has criticized the government for state sponsored pilgrimages as well as for the delay in completion of various promises finalizing the Regional Plan and Medium of Instruction.
The NCP also demanded that the government notify the MoI policy as well as issue guidelines.
The NCP charged that the announcement of the implementation of Pilgrimage Tour Scheme to go on pilgrimages to Shirdi, Vailankanni, Ajmer and Tirupati ahead of Lok Sabha elections had exposed the nervousness of the Government and Bharatiya Janata Party.
Stating that this scheme was declared in the State Budget 2012-13 by the Chief Minister, it asked why it had taken him two years to implement the Scheme.
Parrikar as Opposition Leader was heavily critical of Congress MLAs and other politicians, who prior to 2012 Assembly elections were sending people on pilgrimages to different religious shrines of their own money, alleging it to be an attempt to lure the voters. The NCP alleged that the BJP Government was now using public money in an attempt to lure the voters during the coming Lok Sabha elections.
