PANJIM: The National Students Union of India (NSUI) has given the State government a two-day ultimatum to announce the benefits under Film Finance Scheme to the five selected Goan films and demanded their screening in Official Section of the International Film Festival of India (IFFI)
NSUI president Naushad Chowdhari said they will launch a strong protest at IFFI if these films do not get the recognition they deserve.
“Many young students who are aspiring to make a career in the film industry are associated with the films selected for screening in IFFI-2021 under Goa Premiere and Non-Premiere Section. It will be a big boost for them if the films become part of the Official Section of IFFI,” said Chowdhari.
“All these students will get some financial help if their film producers are given financial assistance under the Goa Film Finance Scheme. The students have faced tough times in the COVID pandemic,” he added.
NSUI said despite repeated demands from the Congress, the government is still employing delaying tactics.
“I hope the Chief Minister remembers the student agitations in the past. We will go to any extent to give justice to these students and our film fraternity,” Chowdhari added.
