Govt granted extension to over 27 officers: Cong

PANJIM: The Congress party on Saturday alleged that over 27 government officers were granted extension by Manohar Parrikar-led government since March 2012, thereby forcing deserving officers to wait for promotions.

PANJIM: The Congress party on Saturday alleged that over 27 government officers were granted extension by Manohar Parrikar-led government since March 2012, thereby forcing deserving officers to wait for promotions.
Congress spokesman addressing media also alleged massive corruption in the recruitment process of the public works and forest departments. While demanding scrapping of the  process, he threatened to file a complaint with Lokayukta.
From the day the new government took over the reign~ March 9, 2012, till August 5, 2013, a total of 27 officers were granted extension, the Congress alleged.
“This is nothing but corruption and exploitation of deserving officials who are waiting for their promotion,” the spokesman said. 
The information obtained by the spokesman under RTI revealed that total three extensions each were granted in the officers of PWD, Goa Medical College and Fisheries department while two extensions were given to officers of the Mapusa district hospital.
One extension each were been granted to the officers of Art and Culture, Forest, Sessions Court, Education, Power, Fire and Emergency services, Collectorate (South), Registrar, Police, Commercial taxes, Archives and Animal husbandry. The extensions are given to officers like education director Anil Powar, GMC dean Jindal, PWD chief engineer J S Rego, Collector N D Agarwal, etc.
The party pointed out that Parrikar during his tenure as leader of opposition was often seen targeting previous Congress government over the extensions granted to civil servants. 
“He called it as scam…corruption…and now he is following the same (precedents),” the Congress spokesman alleged.
Congress leader also said ‘BJP is busy trying to recruit their workers by violating all the procedures’.
