IPSCDL Managing Director Swayandipta Pal Chaudhuri reacting to the developments said he refused to attend the meeting as government guidelines restricted him from attending a public interaction.
Speaking to Herald, Chaudhuri said the invitation from Panjim MLA Atanasio (Babush) Monserrate was received on Saturday for a brief presentation. “However, on Monday I learnt that it was not just a presentation for the MLA and the CCP but on the contrary it was going to be a public consultation. Since the Chief Minister had also expressed that a public consultation be held, it was only appropriate that the CM chairs it.”
In a letter to Monserrate, Chaudhuri stated, “At the direction of the Chief Minister at the meeting held at CMO on July 1, 2019, that all Smart City related review meetings shall be held under the chairmanship of the Chief Minister, you are kindly requested to convey a fresh meeting date in consultation with the Chief Minister for all pertaining to this Corporation (IPSCDL).”
