Alleges BJP government has appointed lower rank administrators to pass illegal projects

PANJIM: Congress leader Captain Viriato Fernandes on Wednesday alleged the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government has appointed the draftsmen, clerks and junior stenographers as administrators to govern people-centric village panchayats for its vested interest.

He further alleged that the BJP government has appointed lower-rank administrators to pass the illegal projects.

General Secretary of All Goa Panchayat Democratic Forum Joseph Vaz urged the government to make public their plan about whether they will be conducting the elections within the stipulated period of time and whether will they be able to sort out the factor related to the issue of Other Backward Classes (OBC) reservation, citing the reason of which the State government has postponed the panchayat elections.

Adding to this, the Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) President Amit Patkar alleged that the BJP has become a ‘Banana Republic’.

Patkar said, “The BJP government is confused about their own deeds. They don’t know what they are doing and what has to be done.”

Speaking to the media about the recent judgement given by the High Court of Bombay at Goa about panchayat elections, Patkar said, “The Honourable High Court has exposed the failed governance of the ruling party by passing such verdict.”

Slamming the government for giving a silly excuse of the arrival of monsoon for deferral of panchayat elections, Patkar asked whether the State government wasn’t aware of the arrival of monsoon in the month of June.

Patkar alleged saying, “Such excuses point towards the failed BJP governance.”

He at the same time slammed the ruling party for targeting the Leader of the Opposition alone and not seeking a probe into the illegal construction of the beachfront villa by Bollywood singer and rapper Mika Singh, at Anjuna.

He also warned Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant not to entertain the rebel Maharashtra MLAs, who are likely to arrive in Goa, on Wednesday evening.

Captain Viriato alleged the BJP for suppressing the legitimate rights of the people of Goa. Adv ShriniwasKhalap, GPCC Youth President VaradMardolkar was also present at the briefing.
