MARGAO: Union Tourism Minister Shripad Naik on Friday said that Margao schools are in dire need of basic infrastructure and has promised to take up with the state government the implementation of the long pending proposal of an educational park in the city on the lines of Panjim.
Addressing a gathering of meritorious students of Std X at a function of the Mahila & Nutan English High School in Margao on Friday, the Union Minister said that the state government has identified the land in question to set up the educational park in Margao.
He said that he would lay stress on the education sector, promising to spend a good deal of money from his MPLAD scheme on education. Naik also promised to spend the discretionary funds with the MPs on the education sector.
Saying that culture plays an important role in the development of one’s personality, Naik said education should not only provide jobs, but should help in the building of the society, state and the nation. “The younger generation should inculcate the values of nationalism. We should give a thought to the society, state and the nation”, he added.
