Govt has no consideration for common man: AAP

Says helping non-Goans to settle in State

PANJIM: Aam Aadmi Party on Thursday strongly condemned Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant government for not having any consideration for the common man and accused it of making life difficult for the people due to the spiralling prices of all commodities in the market.

AAP spokesperson Adv Surel Tilve said the price of petrol has increased by Rs 10 in the last six months wherein many people lost their jobs due to the lockdown and small business ventures had to shut as public were left without money.

“Instead of considering the fact that people do not have money to buy essential commodities, the chief minister is making things more expensive thereby pushing people to starvation,” he claimed and charged that the CM is not bothered about the Goans but is only concerned about his bosses in New Delhi and their friends.

“Over and above all these problems Power Minister Nilesh Cabral has now threatened to disconnect power supply to houses that have not paid their bills for three months when the government itself is issuing bills of three months at a time,” he said and asked ‘how the common man who lives a budgeted life is expected to pay these huge bills.’

“When the government does not have money to pay senior citizens’ pension and has to borrow money from the market to pay salaries, how can it expect the common Goan to have money to pay for such an expensive life,” he asked.

Meanwhile, reiterating that the Chief Minister is working against the interest of Goa and Goans to promote the interest of his party bosses sitting outside Goa,

AAP Goa convener Rahul Mhambre cited the example of the advertisement issued by Goa Human Resource Development Corporation to prove its charge.

“The GHRDC that recruits staff on contractual basis for various government departments on February 10, 2021 issued an advertisement seeking applications to fill up 750 posts. The advertisement sought applications from people who have studied from Class VI to graduates and for posts ranging from security guards to clerks and data entry operators,” Mhambre said.

He said, “Two important conditions for government appointments in Goa namely knowledge of Konkani and being a resident of Goa for 15 years have been omitted from the advertisement” and alleged that ‘this has been done because the CM wants to recruit people from other States to government jobs in Goa.”
