PANJIM: Director General of Police (DGP) Jaspal Singh, IPS on Monday said that the State government is in the process of preparing Tenant Verification Act to streamline the processes related to tenant verification.
Singh said, “We sent the details related to the Act to the legal department. It will make the process easier. It will become mandatory to do tenant verification and will have a provision of a fine if someone violates the law.”
The DGP said that with the rise in crimes involving persons from other States in Goa, the State police have started document verification drives at Railway stations and other colonies in the State. He said there have been instances wherein Goa police was informed by its counterparts in other States that criminals from their States have been traced in Goa.
Singh urged people to ensure tenant verification as well as police verification of tenants, house helps or employees to keep anti-social elements at bay.
“I will urge the people that if they are employing someone or giving their house on rent then make sure that their police verification is done,” he said.
