Margao: Congress’ Curtorim MLA Aleixo Reginaldo Lourenco alleged that the Government is trying to finish the cooperative sector by attempting to destroy the Goa State Cooperative Bank.
The Government is purposely letting these institutions go sick while referring to the scams in the Goa State Cooperative Bank from 2012 to 2019. I feel the BJP has vested interests,” he charged.
“The unattended scams of Goa State Cooperative Bank will soon lead to its downfall. Sanjivani Sugar Cooperative factory, Mapusa Urban Bank and Madgaum Urban Bank are some of the examples which have finished due to the lack of interest on the part of the Government,” Reginaldo alleged.
“l am pained to state that there has been non-execution of the assurances taken in the Legislative Assembly on 28/07/2016 and 11/08/2016”, reminded Reginaldo. “The property which was valued at Rs.8.19 crore in 1995 was sold through auction in 2006 for a meagre Rs.1.36 crore. Even official rubber seals of the Registrar of Co-operative Societies, Government of Goa with “Ashoka Emblem” were prepared by the recovery officers of the bank and were used on the sale confirmation letters and sale deeds, which were registered in the various offices of the Sub-Registrar. The said auction was conducted in connivance with the bank management, the recovery officers and the Registrar of Co-operative societies, Government of Goa,” he alleged.
