Govt job portal in three months: Labour Minister

5,000 youth register for job fair with 50 companies participating

PANJIM: Labour and Employment Minister Rohan Khaunte on Friday said the State government’s target is to have its own job portal in place within the next three months.
Khaunte was addressing the gathering after inaugurating the State level job fair at Succoro Village Panchayat Hall in Porvorim.  
“The State government will hold three more job fairs in Goa within the next two to three months in places such as Sanquelim, Ponda-Tisk-Usgao and Curchorem. The State governments target is to have its own job portal in place within the next three months,” Khaunte said.
He added, “The job fair has received a good response with more than 50 companies participating in it.” He further said that more than 5,000 Goans had registered for the fair wherein 3,000 had registered online, while others participated through a walk in interview at the event.
The job fair will be followed by a meeting with HR managers of different companies on Saturday, which will have a brainstorming session on employment and related-matters.
The Labour & Employment, Regional Employment Exchange in association with the CII-Goa, GCCI, ASSOCHAM, National Institute of Personnel Management – Goa and Goa Technology Association will hold its second job fair at Curchorem and Ponda or Tisk-Usgao in May-end and June.
The regional employment exchange has so far organised five job fairs wherein more than 200 employers participated with 4000 vacancies. More than 11000 job seekers attended the job fairs out of which around 500 candidates were selected for different posts.
