PANJIM: Caretaker Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant on Tuesday said that the Goa government is in touch with USA consulate to bring to Goa the mortal remains of John Dias, 25, from Chandor, who was shot dead in Houston.
Sawant on his Twitter handle said, “Office of the Commissioner for NRI Affairs Goa is in touch with the Consulate General of India, Houston, USA for seeking their assistance for bringing the mortal remains of late John Dias to Goa, so that his family can have the funeral in Goa.”
“Saddened by the tragic incident in USA leading to the death of young Goan John Dias from Cuncolim (constituency),” Sawant said, while expressing his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and that Almighty give them strength to bear this irreparable loss.
Dias, a footballer from Chandor working as a store clerk at northeast Houston in the USA was shot dead by an unidentified person on Sunday.
