“The mobile app will help to explore areas where normally there is no heavy footfall. It will contain information about every place in the State and historical importance,” Tourism Director Ameya Abhyankar told Herald.
The one-stop information centre will be in an addition to the department’s website that disseminates updated information pertaining to the recognized tourism services, travelogues, tourist guide books and blogs. “It will give the visitors a different circuit…” he said adding the proposal is still at discussion stage.
Similarly, tourist helpline service will soon come into force, a concept along the lines of other countries. The helpline, Abhyankar said, will be an interconnection of multiple agencies including Goa police.
“The helpline will cover wide spectrum of things…our primary focus is on the safety aspect. We feel there needs to be a single point where the required help is facilitated on a single call,” the IAS officer said adding, “We will study the concept in the other countries but without visiting those places. Our experts will refer the documents and literature…” The control room will be anchored in the tourism department.
The tourism department is poised to make yet another leap by streamlining the processes related to registration of different trades under the Tourist Trade Act. “We want the entire process on the e-governance platform, and ensure providing hassle free service,” he said. The depr aims to bring the service under the ambit of ISO certificate.
