PORVORIM: The State government is exploring the possibility of insisting on Aadhar authentication for land transactions, which is not done at present, Law Minister Nilesh Cabral told House on Friday.

Cabral said currently the government is not insisting on Aadhar authentication for the execution of the documents which require registration.

The minister was responding to the question tabled by Congress MLA Adv Carlos Fereira.

Further, Cabral said that the government is aware of the rise in bogus land transactions in the State, and accordingly has formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to investigate alleged land grabbing cases.

He said that for the ease of doing business and to streamline the process of mutation after registration and to maintain transparency in the system, the provisions of Land Revenue Code, 1968 and Rules are amended from time to time, and the mutation process is carried as per the prevailing provisions.
