CUNCOLIM: Velim MLA Cruz Silva has urged the Chief Minister Pramod Sawant to immediately take measures to legalise sand extraction and laterite stone mining in a bid to control and curb the ‘hafta’ culture prevailing in the State.
Speaking to media persons, Silva said that illegal sand extraction has gone to such a level that the mafia and hafta culture has ruined the sand extraction business in the State.
“To curb the hafta culture, the government must take the initiatives to legalise sand extraction. Police too should stop harassing those extracting sand and the haftas should be stopped,” said Silva.
