Govt neglected Dalits, claims Prof Dhargalkar

MAYEM: Claiming that the Dalit community has been neglected by government authorities after being accorded only 2% reservation, Prof Deelip Dhargalkar called upon the government to increase the reservation for Dalits to protect their interests.
He was speaking on the occasion of 123rd birth anniversary of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar on April 14. Former Bicholim MLA Rajesh Patnekar, Deputy Chairperson Narayan Betkikar, Khushali Parwar, Ankush Parwar, Raju Parwar, Govind Parwar, Dattaram Parwar, Prakash Parwar, Sagun Parwar, Anandibai Parwar, Vanita Parwar and Kavita Parwar were present on the occasion.
In his speech, Patnekar called upon the Dalit community to raise their voice to get rid of the problems faced by them, while Betkikar said he will draft new schemes for the welfare of the Dalit community.
In another function organised by Sridhar Matokar in memory of his late grandfather late Vishwanath Halarnkar at Bordem-Bicholim, ZP Shilpa Naik garlanded the statue of Dr Ambedkar.
Bicholim Municipal Councillor Kamlakar Teli, Karuna Govekar, Arjun Malgaonkar, Arun Naik, Sameer Wadkar and others were present.
