PORVORIM: Stating that the government is contemplating drafting a new Regional Plan (RP) for the State, Town and Country Planning (TCP) Minister Vijai Sardesai on Monday told the House that the government had never assured to de-notify RP21.
Replying to a question tabled by Leader of the Opposition Chandrakant Kavalekar on whether government had assured to de-notify RP21, the Minister said “No”. “Government has decided to operationalise the Regional Plan with strict guidelines and parameters vide Order dated March 28, 2018,” he added.
Spelling out the chronology of RP21 since the time it was notified, Sardesai told the House that as on April 1, 2012, the RP21 was in force until directions were issued by the government on April 9, 2012 to keep proposals based on the plan in abeyance.
“Thereafter, government vide order dated June 4, 2012 had directed to use Regional Plan 2001 as reference plan and to consider permissions in areas having commonality in Regional Plan 2001 and Regional Plan 2021, with policies of FAR, height of building and village status as per Regional Plan 2021,” he said.
Replying to another question raised by Congress MLA Clafasio Dias, the Minister said the government is contemplating drafting a new plan, however, the time frame for the same has not been finalised.
He said the government will follow the statutory requirements as mandated in the TCP Act while drafting the new plan.
