Govt nod sought for excise official’s service extension

PANJIM: The Excise Department has sought permission from the government to extend the services of Assistant Commissioner of Excise Satyawan Bhivshet as he retired on March 31, 2019. Owing to the ongoing Code of Conduct in view of Lok Sabha elections, the Goa Government will now have to seek permission from the Office of the Chief Electoral Officer to grant the extension.
“Yes, the department has put up a proposal for Bhivshet’s extension but since the code is in force, the election office will decide on the matter. We are awaiting a response,” a senior officer said declining to speak further citing it as internal matter.
Bhivshet, who has been dealing with some important matters in the department, was promoted from excise inspector to the post of assistant commissioner couple of years ago.
Whereas, Director of Information & Publicity Narayan Navti, who served as the additional chief electoral officer before his last posting, also retired from the service on March 31, 2019.
