PANJIM: The State government has notified the Goa Telecom Infrastructure Policy (GTIP) 2020.
In the notification, the PWD Department has stated that the GTIP Policy is being implemented to encourage establishment of modem telecommunication infrastructure and ensure good quality Internet across Goa, especially remote and hilly areas as defined in the policy.
“And whereas, considering the need of Internet in the rural areas for online education and other services, the government hereby decreases the government land usage charges for installing of Mobile Towers in rural areas, as prescribed at Annexure-B under Goa Telecom Infrastructure Policy, 2020 from the existing 50 per cent of the rates to 25 per cent and a special concessional rate of 10 per cent, for 60 months, will be applicable for the mobile towers commissioned before June 30, 2022,” read the order issued by PWD Principal Chief Engineer U P Parsekar.
