SANGUEM: The Government Office Complex at Sanguem, which houses important government offices including PWD, Mamlatdar, BDO and Water Supply, is likely to get a lift facility in future.

The building constructed  some 33 years ago during the then Sanguem MLA late Pandu Vassu Naik’s tenure was not provided with lift facility despite frequent demands for the same by the locals.

At the time of its construction, a provision was made to install the lift but till date the building has remained without a lift facility thereby inconveniencing the visitors, especially senior citizens and persons with disabilities (PwD) to a great extent.

The office of the Mamlatdar is housed on the first floor, while the Office of BDO is on the second floor. The PWD offices are housed on third and fourth floors.

Incidentally, with authorities making no efforts to get much needed lift installed, former chairperson of Sanguem Municipal Council Sanjay Raikar along with others recently made a representation to the PWD Minister Deepak Pauskar.

After receiving the representation, Pauskar immediately deputed a team of engineers and other concerned officials to the Complex to work out on the project to get the lift installed. Pauskar assured the locals that the lift will be installed in the next three to four months. Sources informed that the project is likely to cost around Rs 20 lakh.
